I love this place! Great sandwiches and Cuban coffee. Super reasonable. We come every year from wisconsin.

We had the carnitas tacos, bistek meal with onions, rice, beans, plantains, a regular cubano and a pork sandwich. Delicious!! The steak was very flavorful as well as the carnitas. The tacos were very fresh and is the perfect size if you just want a small snack. The homemade hot salsa was amazing! The plantains were perfectly sweet and tangy. The lady at the counter was very nice even with the 12 guests she was serving. The business could probably hold 20 people. Overall, I would definitely come here again if our travels bring us back to Fort Lauderdale. For visitors, I suggest to experience and enjoy the local flavors!!

Driving in the area with my father we spot a quaint little Latin shop advertising sandwiches on the window... Went in ordered two cuban sandwiches. The worse cuban sandwich I've ever had, and I eat alot of them... the bread was over toasted and dry and the meat was well lackluster (the little they gave). With a price of 5$ I wish I had gone to the subway across the street. Idk if I'm spoiled from Miami quality sandwiches but this was sad. The staff was really nice and quick service...

It's not bad. Had un plate de lechon and rice with black beans. The place is low budget but the food is really good. Of course I am not to partial to a Cuban restaurant that does sell Mexican items. I think it takes away from the place and that makes one feel as if they are not giving it one hundred percent. Of course, the taste of the food kind of said it all. I mean don't get me wrong, it was good and all but not quite the Cuban quality that I am known to expect. I have had better but for what it is and where I am at, this is good enough. Portions are okay, nothing to write home about and the only downfall I have encountered was that they only take cash! For an out of town-er this can't be good, but I make due and let go of the $20.

It's been a while since I been here. We found this place accidently. We were staying at the hotel across the street and decided to check this place out. Their Cuban coffee is out of this world!! The best I've ever had. Their food was home made! I live in Southern California but we will be back here for for next cruise. Service was very friendly!

When my husband and I travel, we like to find what he calls the "Local Joker" spots which is what most folks call you Mom & Pop joints. Eating at the larger commercial places are cool, but we both feel like you get a chance to really see what the "down home" cooking in the area is like, and you also get a chance to support a small local business at the same time. With that being said, our stop at Mama's Latin Cafe was a great choice! We started with 2 empanadas for an appetizer. (I had the beef and my husband had the chicken. The beef was much better and it had more beef in it than the chicken one. They gave us some homemade hot sauce on the side - which I didn't really care for too much). For our entrees, I had the Bistec de Palomilla (Cuban Style Beef Steak ), and my husband had the Pechuga de Pollo (Grill Chicken Breast - about $8 each plate). Both were served with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. Both were MARVELOUS choices! My husband eats pretty fast, and I am normally finding myself still eating some 10 minutes after him, but this time, I finished my food, and turned and started munching off of his plate. Needless to say that there was absolutely NOTHING LEFT on our plates when we were done! This place is definitely a local spot to stop in and check out!!!

This is a real hidden, hole in the wall sort of find. The clientele seemed to mostly be locals and many were Cuban (a good sign!). Now, I can't say that I'm any sort of expert on Cuban food. But from my limited judgement, BEST CUBANO SANDWICH EVER. It was warm, savory and a tiny bit gooey from the cheese. So delicious. The plantains were also amazing; the perfect sweet compliment next to the cubano. The servers were very nice and extremely attentive. They even brought us to go bags when they noticed we were wrapping up the second half of our sandwiches (they're big!). The prices were super cheap. A relief. 5$ will score you a sandwich the size of your arm and an extra $2 will get you a plate of plantains.

Nothing special about this place, lechon asado had no flavor, staff seemed to purposely ignore me despite me being Cuban and talking to them in Spanish, they would not let me substitute tostones for the platano maduro, not sure why. coffee was good and its a cozy little hole in the wall place but im not sure if its worth going back

I stayed at Hampton Inn Ft. Lauderdale Airport North Cruise Port Hotel. Must mention service is great and they checked us in several hours earlier. Their shuttle guy, "Hector" suggested Mama's Latin Café for Cuban food. We walked over after I called since I saw their hours were very SHORT. They use to close at 1 ish , I was told but they are now open till 4 p.m. I got the steak, onions with rice and black beans with platano ...sweet ones. Only $9.00! Its a café that you may have seen growing up watching "grover" in Sesame Street . Do you remember the pretend restaurant, kinda cheesy? Well this is like a rented space that is low low low key but the FOOD IS AWESOME! My background is of Puerto Rican food and so is my boyfriend. He loved it too.

Small hole in the wall. Dry chicken and beef empanadas. This place couldn't survive in a real latin area. But I just went craving Tostada and cafe con leche and no where near my usual Cuban Cafe's. Even the tostada and cafe con leche left me unsatisfied. If a Cuban Cafe can't do those two foundational items properly I don't need to try anything else. I honestly cannot comprehend the high reviews of other reviewers unless I went on a bad day for toast and coffee.
